The struggle between me wanting to be successful and me wanting to lay in bed 24/7

As an adventurous and spontaneous 20-year-old, my ideal Friday evening consists of my bed, a sheet mask, a warm mug of Rolo hot chocolate, and a plethora of beauty videos on Youtube. Last night I decided to try out The Crème Shop’s “Pineapple Enzyme Sheet Mask”. The Crème Shop products are hard to come by in Canada, but luckily I was able to find these masks at my local Marshalls in their beauty department. I was recently researching facial spa’s in Toronto and one treatment that caught my eye featured pineapple enzyme to exfoliate and brighten. After reading up about the benefits of pineapple for your skin, I decided to try this one out and see how it goes. Not to mention pineapple is my favourite fruit, and the packaging is just adorable.

The mask is said to smoothen skin, brighten, and reduce inflammation all while providing immediate skin renewal and rejuvenation. The active ingredient in this mask, bromelain, acts as an all natural exfoliator that breaks down the keratin protein in dead skin cells. As a result, a new layer of skin is revealed and discolouration fades. Also, pineapple is rich in Vitamin C which is known to reduce inflammation and brighten the skin as well. I decided to put this mask in the fridge a few hours before to have a more cooling effect.

When I pulled the cotton fibre sheet mask out of the packaging, I was pleasantly surprised by the smell. It smelled INCREDIBLE. I immediately felt like I was on the beach sipping something fruity and watching cute boys walk by my hut. I personally prefer gel based sheet masks but I found that this cotton was thin enough to attach to the contours of my face very easily. The only problem I had was that the mouth whole was slightly too large so it was a bit difficult to adjust that. The mask was very saturated in essence which i enjoyed. I also noticed that this sheet mask features flaps for the eyes as well, which I was very excited about because I love cold compresses on my eyes.

The instructions say to leave the mask on for 10 – 15 minutes, but I noticed my mask was still moist after 20 minutes so I decided to wear the mask until it dried out. This took about 40 minutes, which I didn’t mind because I was really enjoying how the mask’s scent. After the 40 minutes was up I pulled the mask off, and I noticed that my skin felt very smooth and plump. My red bumps also looked less irritated which I was impressed with. The next morning when applying foundation I noticed that my makeup wasn’t caking up near my old acne scabs as much because they were a lot smaller and smoother.
I will definitely use this mask again because I found it very enjoyable. The smell was amazing, and it worked for my skin so I was happy. I probably would limit myself to only using this mask 1-2 times a week since it is a chemical exfoliant, but overall I am loving this mask from The Crème Shop. At $3 this mask is an absolute steal, and I wish I could find more of their products in Canada, because their rose water sheet masks look amazing and so pretty. What are your favourite The Crème Shop products?

As a thin-lipped girl living in a Kylie Jenner world, its easy to feel self conscious about my lips. Everyone the days wants smooth, plump pillow lips, but without costly injections or amazing genetics, it can be hard to find lip plumper that actually does anything. Thats why I decided to try out this new lip plumper from Know Cosmetics. The “No Thin Lips” Secret Lip Plumper promises to make lips appear fuller and smoother instantly, while the formula adds plumpness. At CAD $18, I found the price more reasonable than similar products like Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme (CAD $40) or Dr Brandt’s 3-D Plump ($50). IMG_1690.JPG

In my opinion the applicator is very important when it comes to picking products because you want to ensure a smooth and even application. This lip plumper has a doe-foot applicator which is my favourite. I love the curve because it hugs my lips and makes sure that I do not miss any spots. You get about 6.6 grams of product in the tube (0.2 oz), which is more product than the Too Faced Lip Injection (4g/0.14oz). I prefer lip plumper that are more tingly than burning, since those usually end up leaving red irritation along the permitter of my lips.

When I applied the plumper, I noticed how thin the formula is. At first I was worried because I couldn’t imagine how this product could work with such a thin consistency, but soon the the plumping started and I noticed how moisturized and healthy the plumper made my lips look. This formula does create more of a burning sensation as opposed to a tingling sensation, but it is not as intense as other burning lip plumpers. The formula definitely filled in the lines on my lips and helped moisturize a dry patch that I always have on the the left side of my lower lip. After about 10-15 minutes I looked in the mirror to see if there was a difference and I was impressed with how healthy and hydrated my lips looked. After trying it out for a few days, I noted that these results were pretty consistent!

In the end I was very happy with the results. Did this product make my lips look like Kylie Jenner lips? No. Is that ok?  Yes! My lips felt a bit plumper, but I’m more impressed about the smoothness and moisture this product gave my lips. The thin formula is perfect as a lip topper too! This was the first product I have ever tried from Know Cosmetics, and I am excited to try more because I find their product line very interesting. Their goal as a brand is to create products that prevent every day makeup troubles like feathering lip products and creasing eyeshadow. For now they are only available at Sephora and Shoppers Drugmart (in Canada), but I hope they expand their product range and I can’t wait to get my hands on more of their stuff!

I feel like people have such high expectations for lip plumping products because they think with the swipe of a wand they can be a Kardashian, but without hundreds of thousands of dollars of plastic surgery that just isn’t possible. It is important to realize that while they’re gorgeous, they have gotten work done and topical cosmetic products just cannot replicate that kind of change. Also, embrace who you are! I know it is easier said than done (believe me) but why live a life comparing yourself to others when you can embrace what your features and learn how to enhance them!
